Here are some words from a few of the lovely guests who came to my last retreats in Wales and southern Spain in 2025.

“Leonie brings to her retreats care, an impressive breadth of knowledge and a life lived by the yogic principles that she holds to be true. All this creates retreats that wonderfully combine meditation practices, yoga and other loveliness” – Paul Cruthers

“I have recently done a retreat with Leonie which was extraordinary excellent yoga sessions, meditation, philosophy and a lovely full moon ritual. I find Leonie`s teaching stimulating and clear. It is delivered in such a relaxed way which I think comes from her deep knowledge, confidence and belief in what she is offering. Being taught in this way creates a great atmosphere, This was my third retreat with her and I look forward to more” – Lynne Dickens

“The retreat you lead in Wales was exactly what I needed to restore some balance in my life, to reconnect me to my inner strength and to reinvigorate my own practice. Thank you for sharing yourself and your knowledge so generously.’ – Chandra Mcgowan

A yoga pilgrimage in South India – 1 – 12th September 2027

This trip we will explore within the fascinating state of Tamil Nadu, at the Southern most tip of the whole country, close to Sri Lanka.  An area rich in ancient and wonderful mythology, as well as emanating strong tangible spiritual vibes that are super conducive to our internal quest for lasting Peace. Many of the Siddhas (worlds first yoga teachers, including Mahavatar Babaji), began their earthly teaching journeys here. Here the people are generally beautiful, calm and contented. They wear jasmine flowers in their hair.

This will be a 12 day pilgrimage, where I will offer regular yoga classes and we will visit historic temples,  Satsang gatherings and Ashrams of local, living Saints from various traditions. I will tailor the trip, including accommodation, according to the needs of the group. The price will depend on many factors, including the level of luxury we require and will include comfortable bedrooms, 3 healthy vegetarian daily meals, excursions, all internal travel, including transfers from Chennai airport and yoga/meditation tuition. Places will be very limited, so please let me know asap if you’re interested, as I will be continuing to plan from when I have an idea of who may be coming.

After meeting at Chennai international airport, we will stay a night in a comfortable hotel nearby and then travel down the coast to Pondicherry, via Mahbalipuram for an ancient temple tour. We will stay a few days in Auroville, near the coastal city of Pondicherry and then travel to the wonderful city of Tiruvanamalai, with it’s famous Arunachalesvara temple and where Sri Ramana Ashram attracts thousands of daily returning visitors from all around the world. The deep peace and silence of this wonderful Saint can still be strongly felt here, even so many decades after Him passing from his body and it is one of the best places for meditation that I have visited anywhere. We will walk around the Holy mountain of Arunachala, experiencing it’s powerful energy and sit in the caves where Sri Ramana meditated for many years.

Approximate itinery

01.09.27 – Transfer from Chennai airport to nearby, comfortable hotel.
02.09.27 – Taxi to Mahabalipuram for an ancient temple tour and then onwards to Auroville, The city of Dawn.
03.09.27 – 06.09.27 – Staying In Auroville in comfortable accommodation. (I am looking at a nice cottage with a pool but would have to book soon) Morning yoga classes and pm excursions to amazing local spiritual sites; including breathtaking Matrimandir temple and Sri Aurobindo and the Mother Ashram. Maybe also the beach..

07.09.27 – 11.09.27 – Taxi to Tiruvanamalai to stay comfortably and enjoy regular yoga and walks on the Holy mountain Arunachala. Daily visits to important and beautiful temples, Ashrams (including Sri Ramana and Sheshadri and Satsang meditations of living Saints.
12.09.27 – Return to Chennai to visit the stunning Kapeeleshwarar Shiva temple and Ramakrishna mission. Overnight hotel stay for those not leaving today..
13.09.27 – Onward journey – transfers to Chennai airport.

*There will be lots of space for soaking up the silence and stillness of this incredible spiritual centre. Also opportunities to book Ayurvedic treatments (At extra cost)

Tiruvanamalai and especially Arunachala mountain is considered by many to be one of the Holiest places in the whole of India. Arunachala is described as the body of Lord Shiva Himself.
This trip will only be suitable for those who have an adventurous spirit and a spiritual inclination. It will be helpful for you if you wish to deepen in Yoga/meditation. Many reported our last Indian pilgrimage was a unique and life changing experience. For me, this is true of every journey I have had within this amazing and wonderful Country!

I look forward to hearing from you if you’re feeling a pull.

“I loved Leonie’s retreat in the Alpujarras so much – I feel restored, transformed and rejuvenated! My body and spirit are deeply grateful for the rich, nourishing schedule of yoga, meditation, walking, shaking, dancing, vedic philosophy, delicious ayurvedic food and lovely company. I felt such a sense of safety and grounding in the way that Leonie held us all in the retreat space with her generous support, care and inspiration. I will definitely be retreating with Leonie again.” – Louise Hove

“As someone who loves yoga and has done a huge amount of it in different styles and studios, from grassroots to high end, I can honestly say that Leonie’s way of teaching is second to none. I am a busy, somewhat restless person. I have never done as much meditation as I did with Leonie, nor did I think I was capable of doing so! What makes Leonie’s retreats and classes so special is that she is so deeply committed to the ethos and philosophy of yoga. She knows the history, every aspect of its attendant practices philosophy and is constantly deepening her knowledge with trips to her teachers in India and a daily devotional practice of her own. She creates a space where you are able to not only stretch and relax but open your self up to spiritual and emotional shifts.
And as an experience, the whole trip was perfectly planned with incredible attention to detail. The retreat was less than a week but I feel more rested in my body and my whole self than I have felt on other trips twice as long. If you get the chance to go on retreat with Leonie – or attend one of her classes – jump at it. I intend to go every year from now on so I will see you there!” – Rebecca Johnson

“Thank you so much for a wonderful few days at a beautiful retreat. The Yoga and meditation sessions were amazing!  Leonie was very attentive, noticing when I was incorrectly positioned.  Learning about Chakras, the philosophy of Yoga and chanting was a bonus.  I feel so rejuvenated from the whole experience.” – Corrinne Horne
